I have had a camera in my hands since I was a child. I started with analogue photography in the 1980s, spending time in the darkroom with developer, fixer and the slow process of watching an image come to life. That was where I really began to understand light, composition and the small details that make a difference.
Around the same time, video became part of my life. I was running around with large video cameras at youth school and later moved into more serious production work. As a young man, I learned the craft in practice from some of the best people in the industry and took part in major productions for large Danish companies. That taught me not only technique, but also what it means to create something that genuinely has to work for a client.
Since then, photography, graphic design, image editing and visual communication have followed me throughout my working life. I am a trained graphic designer, and I enjoy bringing these disciplines together so the final result has personality, clarity and a strong visual direction.
The experience has grown over many years, but the curiosity is still the same. I still enjoy finding solutions, developing ideas and seeing possibilities where others may simply see a task.
And even though I now have a great deal of experience behind me, I still carry that playful way of looking at things. I like to experiment, try things out, take a slightly unexpected route and see what happens. Humour, spontaneity and curiosity are an important part of the way I work, and I believe some of the best ideas appear when there is room to play a little.
My way of working is relaxed, informal and down to earth. I take the time to listen, ask questions and understand what the client wants to communicate. I often act as a creative advisor, helping shape ideas and find the right visual direction rather than simply carrying out a fixed brief.
I am not interested in making things polished simply for the sake of it. I prefer work that feels honest, simple and full of character, and I am happy to spend a little extra time if that is what it takes to get the right result.
This is not something I do simply because I need something to do. I do it because it still interests me — just as it did when I stood in a darkroom back in the 1980s.
I work throughout Funen and elsewhere in Denmark by arrangement.
